Hope is on the horizon

Dear LMP Family,

Do you hear that? Faintly, faintly, I’m starting to hear that A440 tuning pitch…

If you go to a concert performed by an orchestra, you will first hear the oboe play the standard tuning note — an A — right before the performance starts. Then each group of instruments begins playing an A and the entire orchestra tunes with one another. This brief activity lets everyone know that they are ready to begin. The magic is about to start. While this act is practical and functional, the anticipation I feel during this special moment never ceases to thrill me.

I know the new normal isn’t here quite yet. But, with more of our friends, family, colleagues, and neighbors getting vaccinated, it feels like hope is on the horizon. In my imagination, I can hear hundreds and thousands of musicians joining the tuning note across the country.

Musicians will be playing live performances again.
Listeners will be hearing live performances again.
And, the new LMP concert calendar will be here for all of them.
