Dear LMP family,

After a whirlwind 7 years leading the Live Music Project as founder and executive director, I’m excited to share that I’m moving into a board/volunteer role and looking forward to the next chapter as Megan Ihnen, LMP’s communications/development lead, takes the helm as ED starting July 1.

Megan has been part of the LMP team since June 2018 as our communications lead, and more recently has been instrumental in our development and fundraising. You may have already had the pleasure of bumping into her digitally through our weekly concert calendar emails and social media.

Megan and I connected as friends and colleagues over our shared love for fostering community. One of the reasons I’m most excited to pass the torch to her is that her advocacy for music and musicians extends far beyond the performance stage. Megan describes herself as a mezzo-soprano on a mission to change the world through the commissioning, performance, and proliferation of new music. I’d describe Megan as vivacious, committed, and a fantastic partner in crime.

I know that Megan believes deeply in — and will continue to work hard on — providing a platform for composers, performers, and performing arts organizations to promote and sustain their work, increase their visibility in the community, and improve audience access to live music. I’m so delighted that she has agreed to share her talents with LMP in this new role.

On the calendar front, LMP’s wonderful calendar editor, Soren Hamm, continues to be the source of all knowledge about our listings. Soren, too, steps into a new role this week as leader of our Calendar Squad volunteer team. If you have any questions about the calendar, or volunteering with the squad, you can reach him at soren@livemusicproject.org.

As for me, well, I’m going to rest my brain for a bit while staying involved on the LMP board and leading our technology projects as a volunteer. I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve accomplished together as an engaged, collaborative, passionate music community, and if the first 7 years are any indication, the next 7 are going to be spectacular.

If you have any questions, please reply to this email. Megan and I would both love to hear any memories you’d like to share with us. You can get in touch with Megan, now and in the future, at megan@livemusicproject.org. I hope you’ll join me in giving her the very warmest welcome, and send her a spontaneous high note from time to time.

With hugs and gratitude,
Shaya
